PHOENIX - A Phoenix family reeling after being hit twice in less than two weeks by armed gunmen looking for loot.
"Mike," a family member, agreed to speak with ABC15 upon concealing his identity and true name.
Mike told ABC15 the family had just attended an late evening church service and had agreed to meet back up with church friends at their home to pray for the families' safety when three gunmen burst into the home and opened fire.
"We were all right there at the kitchen table, having donuts and coffee," said Mike. "We have a glass arcadia door and they just shot through the door and there was probably about three different guns."
The family couldn't believe it was happening again. Less than two weeks earlier on June 2, the family's home was hit by armed robbers also demanding money.
"They were definitely looking for money, luckily one of us was armed and were able to keep them at bay or else it could have been a lot more tragic," he said.
The home was filled with 20 people, 9 adults, and 11 children.
As bullets flew through the air, Mike said three people were hit. His brother-in-law was shot in the leg, sister-in-law was grazed in the leg and shot in the hand, and a family friend was also grazed by bullets.
"They're doing fine, I think one might lose a finger," said Mike.
Police say the home may have been targeted for its nice cars and the family business that requires them to have lots of tools.
"They feel there's a lot of money here, but there's not, we're just a church family that's successful in the air-conditioning business," said Mike, who is hoping Police will soon catch the gunmen before they strike again.
