After leaving his long-running gig on "Law & Order: SVU" last year, Christopher Meloni has finally found a new role that he can sink his teeth into.
Meloni has signed on for season five of HBO's hit vampire drama "True Blood" as Roman, an ancient bloodsucker and guardian of the Vampire Authority.

A new trailer for the upcoming season of the series offers a brief but enticing glimpse of the former Det. Stabler in his new role, laying down the law in his undead community and catching a face full of plasma -- which is either a sign of a very dramatic scene to come, or a luxury treatment available at vampire spas everywhere.
The new season of "True Blood" premieres June 10 at 9 p.m. Until then, watch Meloni in action.
