Facebook is one of the most popular websites in the world and is the most popular social network. Though it?s origin was relatively humble with a specific number of users but it has grown to over 800 million users nowadays. In fact, a large portion of people connected to the internet one way or another are on Facebook nowadays. And it is not as if they belong to a definite country, region, sex or interest. People from various walks of life and from diverse regions of the world are on the social networking website. Due to the massive amount of diverse traffic, it is an extremely useful platform for brands and companies to promote their products and involve in their brand building.

And it is not surprising that all major brands are active on Facebook with huge fan bases. But a startup might not have the needed funds for such large scale promotion. So, a vivacious social network such as Facebook will suit them a lot more. They can get the traffic and loyalty free of cost if they provide quality products and services. And Facebook is a viral website where people can share their interests with friends and other Facebook users. So, a few loyal customers of the company can result in the growth of a large customer or fan base for the startup within a short period of time.

In Facebook, users are normally aligned in groups and pages as per their interests. So, the businesses can target the users relevant to their products. Similarly, they can also target users as per their location. Facebook ads are also available which can be used to increase and enhance the brand presence. Large companies and even startups are known to actively use these ads for promotion of their products and services.

Though Facebook is primarily a social network for connecting with other users but it is perfectly suitable for internet marketers and startups as well as large businesses to reach to their audience. It used properly, it can definitely provide huge dividends in the long run.
