I can remember just 4 years ago when me and my friends were hanging out on the beach talking in disbelief that we could actually vote in our first non-white president in America. We all felt as if we were empowered to change the world and give America a facelift.? We wanted not to be known as a nation of cowboys, but a nation of culturally mixed and tolerant people. The younger generation of America got mobilized and got the hope and change we wanted.
Now fast forward to a day before the election. For the past 4 years the United States has had a lot of change. When looking it the polls from such sources unbiased to American political parties such as BBC, it appears the rest of the world loves Obama minus Pakistan (for obvious reasons). I found this rather odd because I?ve lived in the same neighborhood in Hollywood for the past 7 years and yet I don?t see one Obama, Biden sign in their support. 4 years ago every few houses you would see an Obama, Biden sign. Maybe a few bumper stickers on cars here and there but that?s about it. Now go 20 minutes north up the freeway to Santa Clarita and people are driving to other counties of California just to get a Romney, Ryan sign to put in their front yard. Keep in mind California is one of the most progressive states in the country. How can this be possible when the whole world loves him?? Below I have outlined 10 reasons why the rest of the world prefers Obama to Romney.
1. The American Media favors Obama. Americans would need to be blind or biased to deny this. America has only 1 major conservative news outlet (Fox news), but yet 6 major liberal news outlets (MSNBC, CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, and Current TV). Fox news isn?t exactly paid attention to internationally. Thus resulting in the American news broadcasting showing ?progressive? propaganda worldwide. What is shown recently is not what Obama has achieved, but how evil Mitt Romney is.? Mitt Romney has been working against the odds in this campaign. ?It?s about the same level as an opposition leader, opposing a leader who has state ran media on their side and a tight grip on independent news outlets.
2. Foreigners don?t feel the economic pain under Obama. Government spending is out of control. America is now? $ 16 trillion in debt to the world (it?s doubled since Obama took office). America has slipped to number seven in global competitiveness from one. The number of people in poverty is 16 percent higher than when Obama took office. Food stamp enrollment is up 46 percent.? I personally had to drop my 10 year career in the Los Angeles fashion industry because of strict labor policies, the removal of tax benefit programs to small business, and the friendly trade with China. When the American Olympic uniforms were sewn in China, I knew that was the end. When an international economic super power is brought to it?s knees, it looks better for everyone else, but the super power.
3. Obama puts political correctness above national security, to please the world.? America had two terrorist attacks on American soil (Embassies are considered American soil) since Obama was in office. The first done by a serviceman on an army base and political correctness was put first. The public was told not to judge a person before anything. Not even the fact that a solider betrayed his country and was communicating with a radical jihadist across the world. The shooter hasn?t even faced trial, yet when a kid shoots up a batman movie, he is put on trial and through the system within weeks.? In Libya the news agency Vice reported in November 2011 that Al Qaeda has planted it?s flag on top of the Benghazi court house.? On September 11th the embassy is attacked. US Servicemen and the ambassador are killed in a known terrorist attack. Yet the president apologizes to the world at the U.N. about a movie that the entire world, including Americans, thought was stupid. Obama had the CNN commentator defend him in the second debate claiming he said it was a terrorist attack not a movie, therefore lie on national television about the attack, later admitting to being wrong. Of course certain countries in the world would like this; they are getting apologized to for protesting and are not having their ambassadors murdered.? Everyone loves to have a super power apologize to them.
4. Obama is not white.? Whether we like it or not. Everyone has a bias to hate the stereotype of the rich old white businessman.? Symbolically over time people have associated that stereotype with evil.? Obama is black and has a Muslim name.? This pretty much gets Obama the support of Africa.
5. Obama is a speaker, Romney is a businessman. Romney has no chance to do business at a presidential level, but Obama is an excellent speaker and has done his fair share at the presidential level.
6. Vladamir Putin and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad support Obama over Romney. Even the enemies defined in the national debates.? That says something about America losing it?s status in the world.? Most countries besides the United States see this as an opportunity to move up.
7. Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro also support Obama.? Could it be that his campaign message is leaning extreme socialist?? The Soviet Union used the term ?Forward and Progress.?? They also believed in bringing down the wealthy.
8. Romney is Mormon. People are either afraid of Mormons, avoid them all together, or make fun of them.? The biggest broadway musical show in recent American history is a musical that mocks Mormonism. A lot of international people do not understand or like this off shoot of American Christianity. It is a bit wacky, but hey it?s America?s freedom of religion.? Most places don?t like Mormons including parts of America.
9. Romney is in full support of Israel.? This is a very touchy subject with the rest of the world.? I won?t go there.
10. Obama gets the ?cool? celebrity endorsements. Nobody cool by international celebrity status endorses Romney (Chuck Norris is ironically only cool in America, internationally he?s about as cool as David Hasselhoff?s pop band in Germany). I?m pretty sure celebrity endorsements have a huge effect in France. This seems to their deciding factor.
I am personally excited to see the outcome of this election even though I won?t be voting for either. I do what every American should do and vote with their heart and mind.? With that said Gary Johnson 2012!
