NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) ? Police in Kenya on Tuesday arrested a man with grenades and guns in a city slum, one day after twin grenade blasts hit the capital.
Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere said the suspect was arrested with 13 grenades and six guns.
Nairobi on Monday experienced two different grenade attacks ? one around 1:15 a.m. at a downscale bar and one in the evening at a bus stop. One person was killed in the evening attack. About 20 people were wounded in the two attacks.
The blasts raised fears that Somalia's al-Shabab militia was carrying out promised reprisal attacks for Kenya's military invasion of southern Somalia. However, the small scale of the attacks suggested they were not carried out by the Somali militant group.
Iteere said Tuesday that the suspect was not ethnic Somali but came from a Kenyan tribe. Iteere said the suspect runs a terror cell, but he did not immediately elaborate.
